Executive Summary
Liberty Diversified International is a privately held, Minnesota-based manufacturer with operations spanning multiple business units and a broad product portfolio that includes packaging, office products, and building products. Operating across a complex organizational structure with global reach, LDI’s AP function carries the demands common to large manufacturers: high invoice volume, multi-entity processing, and approval workflows that have to match the organization’s structure rather than a simplified org chart.
When LDI partnered with DataServ in 2020, the goal was to build an AP automation foundation capable of handling that complexity reliably. Six years in, the data reflects an operation that has done exactly that, and a partnership that continues to expand in scope and strategic depth. The partnership was tested in its early stages, as the COVID-19 pandemic drove a surge in demand for AP automation and digital mailroom solutions across the industry, with organizations suddenly needing to process invoices remotely at scale. DataServ navigated that period of compressed demand with transparency, and LDI stayed the course. That early test laid the foundation for the relationship that exists today.
The Challenge
Manufacturing AP pressures compound quickly at scale. Liberty Diversified International operates across multiple business entities and global markets, including Germany and Mexico, where e-invoicing requirements add another layer of complexity. Its AP environment must accommodate high invoice volumes, diverse formats, multi-entity approval structures, and compliance requirements while maintaining consistency, visibility, and control.
At the same time, LDI is consolidating its ERP environment into a single instance of JDE EnterpriseOne. This transition requires an AP automation foundation that can support current operations while adapting to the organization’s evolving systems and processes. DataServ is working alongside LDI throughout the consolidation, helping maintain continuity and align invoice processing and approval workflows with the new, unified ERP environment.
The DataServ Solution
DataServ and LDI implemented a comprehensive AP Invoice Automation solution integrated with JDE EnterpriseOne, configured to match LDI’s organizational complexity from the ground up. The solution scope reflects the breadth of what LDI required:
- Invoice Processing Machine, capturing invoices in every format and delivering indexed, accurate data well within SLA
- AutoVouch™ AI-powered PO matching, enabling exception-based processing across LDI’s PO invoice population
- A new Approval Matrix configured to LDI’s multi-entity organizational structure, routing invoices to the right approvers based on defined business rules
- Payment Request functionality, streamlining ad-hoc payment processing with controls and approval routing built in
- Single Sign-On, simplifying user access across the organization
Results
SLA Performance at 100% with Consistent Turnaround
Every invoice LDI processed across the full 12-month review period from August 2025 through July 2026 met DataServ’s 48-hour turnaround SLA. Average processing turnaround came in at 21 hours and 9 minutes, reflecting reliable performance across a high-volume manufacturing environment that processes approximately 7,000 to 7,500 invoices per month.
Capture Error Rates Held Near Zero
Across every month in the most recent review period, capture error rates stayed consistently below 0.35%, giving LDI’s AP team a clean, reliable data foundation for downstream matching, workflow routing, and payment scheduling.
AutoVouch™ Performance: Consistent and Stable
LDI’s AutoVouch™ data across the most recent 12-month review period reflects a mature, well-tuned matching operation. Among AutoVouch™-eligible invoices, the success rate held between 66% and 72% every month, averaging approximately 69-70% for the year. Looking at the broader picture across all PO invoices, touchless processing rates ranged from 59% to 65%, with the period finishing at 65% in August 2026.
The consistency across both measures is as significant as the rates themselves. In a high-volume manufacturing environment processing approximately 7,000 to 7,500 invoices per month, a stable touchless rate with a narrow band of variation reflects a process that has been configured, tuned, and maintained effectively over time. There were no significant drop-offs, no months that required intervention to recover performance, and no meaningful disruption despite the complexity of LDI’s multi-entity invoice population.
AutoVouch™ invoice volume also trended upward across the most recent review period, climbing from approximately 2,500 per month in September 2025 to close to 2,900 by spring 2026 and holding at that level through August. With PO invoice volume trending upward as well, finishing near 4,300 to 4,400 per month, the foundation for continued AutoVouch™ gains is in place.
A Platform Built for Manufacturing Complexity
The breadth of LDI’s solution scope reflects the genuine complexity of manufacturing AP. Multi-entity approval routing, e-invoicing in Germany and Mexico, AutoVouch™ PO matching across a high-volume invoice population, and a workflow configured to match LDI’s organizational structure all run through a single platform integrated with JDE. That consolidation is what gives LDI’s finance leadership consistent visibility into liabilities across the organization.
